Later on, John and Asa Jay had good company since the high-speed cars (160 up to unlimited) were only allowed to run until the rest area due to heavy rains further down course. This allowed John to get a ride back to Ely with the driver of the Viper in order to pick up the TPR Mobile Command Post with trailer.
