30 miles into the race, John Bentley and Asa Jay Laughton decided to terminate the run due to high oil temperature and low oil pressure that would not recover after slowing down to minimum tech speed. Since they could no longer maintain minimum tech, they pulled off into the rest area (conveniently located near where they decided to terminate) and waited out the rest of the race.
