GUYS,

Caster is what makes your steering wheel return to and become neutral in a straight driving condition.

Adding caster will make the Pantera more stable going in a straight line at speed

Adding Caster will also give more front end grip cornering to a point, but will also make the car harder to steer into a corner and may tend to whip the steering wheel back into a straight running position.

Stock Caster is about +2 degrees

ADD Offset front suspension bushings add 1-1/2 degrees

Shave the Upper Ball Joint and add a .100 shim, add 1 degree

Without modify the A-Arms we can get about 4-1/2 degrees

Rear weight biased Porsche’s run 6-9 degrees of positive front caster

Dear Dennis,

How much positive caster do you have now? I am keen to know if you will perceive a difference and improvement.

I would note that our friend Tom Upton was running positive 5-7 degrees and he noted another bit of improvement with the SACC electric power steering unit. If Tom recommends power steering with big positive castor, then it might be a consideration.

                            Warmest regards, Chuck Engles

I got 4 & 4.5 degrees of caster with the offset bushings and shaving the upper front ball joint.

02001PPPC Front Upper Ball Joint Modified for + Caster135.00

I think the Pantera may want up to 6-9 degrees of front caster.

Here are the A-Arm Sectioning and spacer photo’s I have you can work with.

Do you have ASA’s Address handy?

Regarding my Pantera underside downforce work, Here is an excerpt from

For the first time since the 1980s, when F1 cars resembled upside-down airplanes, ground effects are utilized in the aero regulations for the new car. Its floor has two large channels running front-to-back. Air travels under the vehicle and through the Venturi-shaped channels, which creates an area of low pressure and “sucks” the car to the track. Since the underside of the car provides much of the grip, the need for air on the wings to generate downforce is reduced.
