[TPR] Rubber

eggs zackery, not available.  Story of my life.  Sticking further out just runs more risk of tire-versus-fender in the dips.

Anyway, I hope somebody still makes some tires that will fit so I can keep the campy-style wheels I have.  If not, I'll have to dive into this pool of not-quite-right wheels and tires

Thanks Asa

I went the 17/18 route a couple of years ago.  I got the wheels from Summit Racing of all places, inexpensive, yea... made in China but they fit and checked true when spun on the car:

Summit Racing Legend 5

Front 17x8 5.25 backspace
 SUM-141-7865GM19
 $149.95
Rear 18x9.5 6 backspace
 SUM-142-8965GM18
 $169.95

17":

Note the load rating is proper for the Pantera.

Ah CRAP!  it looks like the 18" wheel is no longer available.
Closest is this one but the backspace is about a quarter inch short
    at 5.75":

It has the proper load rating though.

Their Hustler Chrome series might be closer with a 6.040" backspace:

But ah... crap!  These are just shy of the 1700 lb load rating for
rear wheels so they won't do.

I guess you'd need to be alright with the wheels sitting another
quarter inch outbound.  Backspace is measure from the inside rim to
the mounting surface... so, they would sit a quarter inch more
    outside the fender.

When it came to tires, I bought the -same- tires the Tire Tech guy
uses, Sumitomo HTR ZIII.  I got them in the following sizes and when
I can afford to change tires I will get the same ones:

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Sumitomo&tireModel=HTR+Z+III&sidewall=Blackwall&partnum=44YR7HTRZ3XL&tab=Sizes

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Sumitomo&tireModel=HTR+Z+III&sidewall=Blackwall&partnum=64YR8HTRZ3&tab=Sizes

Note they also carry the proper load rating for the Pantera for
    front and rear.

I sent the tire info to Eric and he blessed it.  The wheels look
good on the car as does the rubber:

I hope this helps.

Attention all tpr racer dudes;
Ok, I'm back on the where-am-I-gonna-find-tires horse. I checked tire rack and got nothing made in both 335/35-17 and 245/45-16. Rumor has it Mark found tires that would pass tech in those sizes. Anybody know the brand and model of those tires? JB Sent from my iPad
