    I went the 17/18 route a couple of years ago.  I got the wheels from
    Summit Racing of all places, inexpensive, yea... made in China but
    they fit and checked true when spun on the car:<br clear="none">

    Ah CRAP!  it looks like the 18" wheel is no longer available. 
    Closest is this one but the backspace is about a quarter inch short
    at 5.75":<br clear="none">

    But ah... crap!  These are just shy of the 1700 lb load rating for
    rear wheels so they won't do.<br clear="none">

    I guess you'd need to be alright with the wheels sitting another
    quarter inch outbound.  Backspace is measure from the inside rim to
    the mounting surface... so, they would sit a quarter inch more
    outside the fender.<br clear="none">

    When it came to tires, I bought the -same- tires the Tire Tech guy
    uses, Sumitomo HTR ZIII.  I got them in the following sizes and when
    I can afford to change tires I will get the same ones:<br clear="none">
