[TPR] 2012 SSCC Update from the field

We all did our best to try and find a resolution to the problem of
tires (short of actually taking what we needed from another car, which
-did- come up by the way, <insert evil laugh here>).
I don't know if SORC has had any race-related deaths, due to tires.
SSCC has, and they've been sued by families. So the Tire Tech guy is
-very- conservative with rulings. I think he really wanted to let
John run, but couldn't live with the liability had something happened
and it was later found the dates codes were old.
Yes, it was unfortunate, and I felt really bad especially after
bringing the TPR rolling headquarters building, working to change an
alternator, regulator and cooling system cap.
However, John was fabulously (is that a real word?) gracious about
failing tech. I'm sure he wasn't happy, but he kept up the great
support attitude for the rest of the event. John helped me go through
my final checklists, which was very helpful because I wasn't as fully
prepared as I should have been. With his advice and guidance, I
worked on a few things and -got- prepared the way I needed to be. So
Kudos to John for the help.
And I should also mention Peter The German was there lending
assistance, advice and guidance too. It was a really great event.
Photos are forthcoming after I get home. I have a lot on my camera
that I can't actually get off right now (no cables and no card slot
on my laptop). Peter and John got some really great shots too. I'll
try to put something together (along with the stuff languishing from
SORC I've got bookmarked) in the next week or two.
