Ever have one of those days where you wish you had NOT got out of bed?

Larry 'the Falcon' came over Saturday and we worked on the Pantera 3-4 hours....okay we just backed it out of the garage, started it and then drank beer and leered at neighbor women walking by in inappropriate short-shorts, answering tech questions about how fast the Pantera really was....you know where I answer,

"With me driving or Mario Andretti driving?"

Anyway on to Sunday....I wake up @ 4AM and can't fall back asleep and immediately realize in horror that I am sleeping with my mom so I got up quickly, got dressed and went out to the garage. I waited until I was certain the neighbors were awake (5:30AM) and started ItBWild and headed the 5 miles to PCH (Hwy 1) headed south towards San Diego when I heard then saw in my rear view mirror a beat up 66 Chevy Nova....he passed me near Laguna Beach and I stayed behind him onto the Laguna Canyon road which twists back up to I-405. When I had a spot to pass him I downshifted and hit the throttle blowing by him (yea he let me) but as I went around him and lifted on throttle I heard some noise like a lifter..
GAAAAAAAW

I threw it in neutral and pulled over and shut down..the guy inthe Nova behind me....we looked for any fluid loss and after about 5 minutes I restarted and hearing the knocking immediiately shut down again ( yea I had good oil pressure). Called AAA and got a flatbed coming to pick me up

In meantime the Nova hot rod owner and I share some history...he is running a built 396 and said he had it on rolllers and that it made 400 hp at rear wheels...in meantime tow flatbed shows up and brings Pantera back home.....now its 8am and neighbors are gawking and sneering that look of
"THATS WOT YOU DEAERVE FOR WAKING US UP!"

Will pull valve covers and get Dick Drenske over this afternoon for 'damage assessment'

Yea may have over revved but was supposed to have had rev limitor set at 6300 too so not sure yet what happened.
