Subject: [TPR] Asa's Saturday update Aug 18 (early)
Everything in the engine compartment, not otherwise accessible through
the cabin (except the carburetor), has been done.
- Exhaust hooked up
- Starter hooked up
- Engine mounts tight
- Half-shaft hooked up and tight
- Speedo cable in place
- Emergency brake cables clamped (bottom of the trans)
- clutch slave cylinder installed
- Attached shift linkage
- Engine bay brace installed
- Condenser installed (not that it works)
- Oil pan drain plug tight
- Oil pan sensor plug tight
- Water pump to undercar pipe hose installed
- Oil pressure sensor hooked up
- Vacuum brake canister line hooked up
- Fuel line from tank to pump installed
And the new Fluidyne radiator is now in too.
- Made new bracket setup for the radiator, required new holes in the fan
shroud and radiator top/bottom cross members
- Installed sensors with new copper gasket seals and used a touch of
Hondabond
- Installed hoses
- Pressure tested to 17 lb. and left it there for a while
- installed the assembly in the car and hooked it all up (all hoses and
wires)
After eight hours in the garage, I'm now taking a break. I may (or may
not) get back to it tonight. Here is a list of things remaining that I
can recall or think of:
- Hookup heater hoses to block and water pump
- Hookup temp sender wire
- Hang the A/C bracket (not that it works)
- Hang the alternator
- Fill with coolant to the level of the block
- Install thermostat and housing
- Install water pump pulley and belt, tighten
- Install, hook up carb
- Fill with BREAK-IN oil
- Put new dual vacuum advance on the distributor (retard port on old one
leaked)
- Install plug wires and cap (not set on distributor)
- Put wheels/tires back on
- Lower the car
- Install (temporarily) driver's seat
- Push car to apron of garage
- Use drill to prime the oil pump and system (wish I had a pressure can
here, I don't think the Motive brake bleeder pressure vessel will work)
- Install distributor and FIRE IT UP!
- Adjust initial timing and let it run to warm up and check things...
... blah, blah, blah...
I'd say it won't get fired up until tomorrow. That's a good list of
items and I'll be taking it slow to make sure everything gets done right.
I wonder how my crew chief is doing.
