[TPR] Grooved Bearings

Hey all,

An interesting question came up from one of our guys privately and I
thought I'd share.

It centers around the idea of having fully grooved bearing sets for the
crankshaft. The theory is if you have a grooved upper and lower
bearing, then the rod can get lubrication during a full rotation rather
than a half. Oil has to feed from the block into the main bearing area
of the crank, which then feeds oil to the rod bearing journals.

So, I'm aiming mostly for Russ Fulp here, who we know has built a killer
engine for Mad Dawg but anyone who has been building engines should be
able to chime in here. What are the opinions of using a grooved main
bearing for both upper and lower halves of the main journals? What
about the rod journals?

The question comes up as there doesn't appear to be a bearing house that
will source a full set with both halves grooved (though apparently one
source used to but no longer does).

Looking forward to the feedback,
Asa Jay
