Well, Asa Jay, if they will fly them I'll buy them :-) After all the fun I've had at SSCC races a few hundred $ donation would really be minor :-)

Off to work in Las Vegas for ~2 weeks tomorrow, followed by Christmas perhaps in Sacramento with family and then New Years day flight to Nairobi Kenya - gotta love my job :-)

Happy Holidays everyone!

  Steve,

I wanted to buy some green flags too, for just the reason you
state.  Perhaps we can save up a little more and make another
donation later.  I agree having a green flag waving at each station
    would certainly reduce confusion.

            Given that my wife,
a seasoned naviguesser, told me to stop during that race
because she saw a red flag waving (a moment later before I
had slowed much she said disregard) I am darned glad about
the ruling. As far as I'm concerned they should also have
a green flag out there - if you pass a flag station and
don't see any flags did that mean everything is OK or you
missed it... I'm for no ambiguity at all :-) I'll happily
buy the green flags if SSCC will fly them...

And thanks TPR for buying more red flags even though I
hate it when they get waved :-)

Actually l don't think it was
others waving flags at cars, I think it was other
flags that were put up stationary along the course to
show pride.  Unfortunately they flapped in the wind
and caused some drivers to wonder what was happening
(the colors were too similar to course flags).  Others
just ignored them if they weren't being waved by a
                  course worker.

TPR - furthering the quest to rid the world of
                  ambiguity.

waiving flags at drivers......I thought that
                        only happened in Mexico.
                      I was wrong.

                            Silver State Classic Challenge

The 2010 Silver State Classic Challenge had a
                          couple of unfortunate

incidents which caused the race to be
                          stopped.  During this time there

was a bit of confusion with flags on the
course.  Part of that was due

to some over-exuberant fans who brought along
                          their own flags which some

                          drivers mistook for course flags.

To alleviate part of that problem, SSCC has
made it a rule that no other

flags may be flown along the course other than
                          the standard course

worker flags.  It also became apparent more
                          flags were needed for the

multiple course stations.  Team Pantera Racing
made a pledge on the SSCC

message board to donate some flags to SSCC to
                          help make sure there were

enough on course in case of difficulties.

Today Team Pantera Racing made a donation of
                          five brand new Red flags

for the course.  We purchased these from
                          Flags! Georgia.  You can find

                          them here:

                          http://www.unflags.com

These were the least expensive we could find
                          on the Internet and they

are being shipped directly to SSCC
                          headquarters.

We pray they are -never- needed.  However, we
                          also understand the

importance of course safety and in Open Road
                          Racing there are pretty

much only two really important flags...

Red to prevent you running into an accident
                          down the road, and...

Checkered, so you know the race is over.

Have fun out there, and be safe.
