Acceptance to SORC - 2010 14 Years, 5 Months ago Karma: 0
Got a call from Becky in Arnold, Neb. last night who is in charge of entries at the SORC Race & she imformed me that Frank (Godfather) Cirrincione out of Tennessee & I have been accepted to race in 2010! When asked about the entry from Bud (Bottomless Pit) Hower I was told that he was # 13 on the "waiting list" but had a great chance of being accepted as many of the "Lifers" drop out before the race rolls around. We'll just have to keep out fingers crossed for Bud!
I'd like to THANK Asa Jay for all the time & effort he has expended on the TPR site & this ORR section in particular. You're doing a GREAT job & I know all of the paticipants here share my feelings!!

Wow, you must have to register for this event really early.

How many slots do they normally have open?
How many "Lifers" take up those spots?
How soon do you normally need to send in a registration packet?

Sorry Asa, I didn't realize your questions showed up here & I answered them in a regular e-mail. This computer dummy still has a few (many?) things to learn

That's quite alright, but remember to post the answer here in the forum as well, so others can get the knowledge too.

Will do, Asa. For anyone else interested in my answers to your questions I've copied them from my e-mail to you earlier.

Asa,
Normally there are 130 slots in the race. As of now, Becky told me that there were 65 "Lifers" @ SORC. Last year one guy sold his slot to another racer for $1500 - a little rich for my blood. Luckily, many of these guys don't race every year but just when they want too or they have a different car, etc. If they advise Becky that they're not racing then their slot is given to someone on the waiting list like Bud (or ME this year) I wasn't advised that I could race this year until a WEEK before the race - good thing I was prepared to go! And YES, you have to be fast on your entry. Your registration papers for next years' race can not be postmarked by the USPS until the first Monday in October ( Oct 5th this year) - otherwise, your entry is trashed. Frank, Bud & I all sent ours in on that day in the early AM & STILL Bud is # 13 on the waiting list - kind of crazy isn't it? But, anyone who's been there KNOWS what a great time it is & ALWAYS wants to come back!! If you ever get the chance to go I'd certainly grab it! Take Care!
