Fluid leaks can spell the end of your race day real quick when you fail tech inspection. One way to cure those leaks is to use a good gasket sealer, or even a gasket maker type of sealant. After suffering a leaking cover gasket on the ZF transaxle using a stock paper gasket, one TPR member was advised to use Hondabond.

Hondabond is a high-temperature silicone self-leveling liquid gasket. It's unique formula is non-acidic and won't corrode aluminium like other silicone gasket products will. Best for use in areas not requiring solid gaskets.  So this TPR member removed all traces of the old gasket, and using Hondabond -without- a gasket, was able to seal the cover on the ZF.  No more leaks.

This product can be used in other areas as well, such as the thermostat housing, water pump gasket, pan gasket, valve covers, etc.  Though it may not be suited for -all- those applications, your best judgement should be used for each situation.

For sealing the cover on a ZF, try Hondabond.  Available from most Motorcycle shops near you.
