Charlie Friend (now past 70) who has the race Corvair-from-hell was recently invited to fly this F-100 to the base where it would be repainted. Charlie was a USAF fighter pilot and instructor for more then 20 years. Charlie was a USAF fighter pilot and instructor for more then 20 years. He flew combat missions during the Vietnam War and the F-100 while still on active duty. Charlie was chosen to deliver this particular F-100 and will get to fly it again after it is repainted. There is a very short list of qualified F-100 pilots still qualified to fly a F-100 let alone get in their flying suit....and Charlie did it.
