Piston Compression Ring position on disassembly
When I pulled the pistons out, I tried my best not to turn any of the compression rings. I wanted to see where they ended up compared to their starting positions. Starting position is essentially at 11 o-clock and 1 o-clock. As this illustration shows, they all moved during the life of the engine. I have been told the rings will move as the piston goes up and down which makes initial position of the rings immaterial. I think this proves that.
