Remember what Tom Waits said? The large print giveth, the small print taketh away. My policy included $10,000 medical coverage. My accident resulted in a 4 mile ambulance ride, some ER time, two images. $10,000 doesn’t cover that!!!</span></p><p class="ydp2dbf0300yiv4058010851MsoNormal"><span style="color:#1F497D;"> </span></p><p class="ydp2dbf0300yiv4058010851MsoNormal"><span style="color:#1F497D;">Two list members guessed my cost for keeping the car: $20,000 and $10,000. Not even close! American Modern indicated they would contact their auction people to get an estimate of what American Modern could get from selling the wreck (you have no idea how it hurts to type “the wreck”!!)</span></p><p class="ydp2dbf0300yiv4058010851MsoNormal"><span style="color:#1F497D;"> </span></p><p class="ydp2dbf0300yiv4058010851MsoNormal"><span style="color:#1F497D;">My settlement was as follows: agreed value minus buyback (5% of agreed value) plus “inflation clause” of 4% of agreed value. I came out a little short and have a few small medical bills to settle, but I still have the car.
