I'm using a bore micrometer similar to this:<br>

I won't swear on my quick measurements (they were quick and dirty)
and I agree it doesn't seem like a lot of wear. BUT, I can see this
engine certainly has some miles. Several cam lobes show wear,
though the lifters seemed okay (but flat). One of the cam bearings
was split and broken in two. I'm wondering if the cam bore is
misaligned; something I'll need the machine shop to check. (I guess
it could be a crooked cam but probably not so much)<br>

Agree, first thing to do is have block checked for bore thickness
(sonic check) and cracks, etc. I'm not buying any parts yet. At
the same time I'll probably have the shop measure the bores to see
what they get. I'll have to start calling around to different
machine shops shortly.<br>

We all know Mad Dawg's tool is short, so that may be why I'm getting
an inaccurate measurement. ;)<br>
