A 1967 Shelby Cobra replica, a Road Runner Superbird, a <br clear="none">smattering of other Mopar beauties, some Chevelles; the typical crowd.<br clear="none"><br clear="none">Again, we let plenty of folks, both young and old, take their turn in <br clear="none">the drivers seat of the Pantera just to get the thrill of sitting in the <br clear="none">car. Smiles were had all afternoon.<br clear="none"><br clear="none">The thrill for me was meeting an older gentleman who used to work on the <br clear="none">special projects line at Ford Dearborn. Yea! Today he's just a <br clear="none">snowbird traveling on motorcycles, but he told me stories of working on <br clear="none">engines for the GT40 and other programs. The saddest moment was when he <br clear="none">said they'd switch over to new inventory; he and a security guy would <br clear="none">take out thousands of dollars worth of engine parts, usually heads that <br clear="none">had been specially machined and scrap them using a hammer to physically <br clear="none">make them non-usable. He had been admiring the Pantera for quite a <br clear="none">while, especially the engine and that's when I struck up the <br clear="none">conversation. He just wanted to get a bit melancholy for the old days.<br clear="none"><br clear="none">And to top it off, we found out from one of the other participants <br clear="none">today, that we actually won a trophy at the car show -yesterday-. We <br clear="none">had to leave that show early, before the awards. I never figured on <br clear="none">winning a trophy.
