I recently posted to the DeTomaso email forum a question regarding
who was going to the Big Bend Open Road Race.

After receiving a response from Michael Frazier, I thought something
needed to be said for our friends who have been running SORC. You
can read the email trail below.

Later today, a new response from Michael Frazier came in, it can be
read here:
http://poca.com/pipermail/detomaso_poca.com/2014-April/225691.html

I'm not going to honor that with a response as I think it shows
irresponsibility on a few levels, and he's entitled to his
opinion. I never said BBORR was a bad race. Nuff said.

Big Bend may be a good race, but I'm not certain it really has anything
on the Sandhills Open Road Challenge with it's narrow road, grass
shoulders and no run off room. There have been Panteras running in
that event consistently for several years now without fail. The team
lineup may vary year to year due to their restricted entry system but
someone has been there. Between Bob Radefeld, Bud Hower and Mark
Skwarek, I think they've done more ORR than the rest of us combined in
the last five years. Bud even drove out to SSCC a few years ago, and
although Mark's new engine wasn't ready, he flew out to spend last
year's SSCC with the team as well.
I realize BBORR is far removed from the rest of the country due to the
shear size of Texas, but it's like you have your own Open Road Race
right there in your back yard, and there hasn't been a Pantera entered
in over two years? I'm sure for you it seems like the best of the
bunch; it's the only one you've really driven at speed.

I'd really like to put another group together like we did a few years
ago. We had 10
Panteras and filled a table with really hard to come by trophies.
I just recently had the chance to see and drive the Sandhills course
while touring the local
missile fields... did the Silver State drive not long ago while at
Nellis. I'm just glad
BBORR is only 300 miles from me, it's easily the best road of the
bunch. I 'll be there
again this year with a group of Vettes and this is my 4th year as an
instructor and
qualifier for the rookie school. That's the scary part.
Hope to see some of you there for the '15 race.
