<div>I thought I had a good plan, but the 180 flanges are not

rotate or cant the mufflers so they’d fit.</div>

<div dir="ltr">Yes, those are 3" ID SS Magnaflows that
are oval and fit into the 'hole' where the stock
mufflers fit.
<div>The tailpipes on the car are 3" header to tip
and I wanted to keep the ID.<br>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>From what I've read from Dan Jones and the
dyno testing that he's done with Dave McClain,
the GTS mufflers, even gutted, are restrictive
due to the small outlets.</div>
<div>As a side comment, apparently, Wilkinson's
new headers and mufflers are much, much better.</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>The race car had straight pipes and was
ungodly loud, which was the reason it got its
nickname 'Saturn V'... </div>
<div>Just tuning the carburetor with it idling
hurt my ears.</div>
<div>Gray's response was... wear ear plugs!</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>Plus, Upton told me TWS is starting to
enforce the sound limits they have. </div>
<div>The new owner is trying to keep the locals
happy, it seems. Inevitable these days...</div>
<div>Upton is running a couple of Borla mufflers
on his car now. </div>
<div>:-)</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>Anyway, I used the two reasons above to
convince myself that I needed to put mufflers on
the car with minimal impact to the performance.</div>
<div>I did some searching and found these. They
knocked the high frequencies off big time. It's
still loud, but it doesn't hurt the ears as
much.</div>
<div>The fit right into the opening where the
normal mufflers go, as you can see in the
pictures.</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>I'm pretty sure these are the ones, but need
to confirm to be absolutely sure.</div>

</div>
<div>They are 3" ID all the way through, so I
can't see how they'd impact performance much...</div>

<div>Magnaflow has lots of different option with
number of inlets, number of outlets, sizes,

time and $$ getting it
vintage legal. It now
has 15" wheels and

net. Some cooling system
mods almost finished.</div>

is the motor. It's a

local CVAR guys have
sort of hinted strongly
that they'll let it run
with them, but if I
start winning, the motor
will have to become a
maximum 358ci vintage
motor with cast iron
heads. Upton is running
cast iron 4V heads, but
he's pinned them
(something done in the
'70's that I only just
found out about) and put
some serious aluminum
port plates on them to
raise the exhaust port.
He claims he shifts at
8500rpm. All I know is
that the hair on my arms
stands up when he comes
by on the straight at
TWS.</div>

<p>Dear Cowboy,</p>
<p>STOP IT!<br>
There is no such
thing allowed as
depression in our
dysfunctional
goup....but I am
getting starting
to feel depressed
now thinking my
pantera is in
Tommy Hodges shop
amd I cant drive
it while weather
is so
nice...although
Tomy dont get
depressed or get
upset with his
painter because
Tommy fired his
painter and now
Tommy is subing
paint work out
again to others.
Yea thank you and
Bud for your
lessons learned
;-) one more
reason why I found
a no-drama painter
near my job site
in Fresno...of
course he doesnt
have Pantera yet
either haha</p>
<p>Speaking of Toms
u are saying Tom
Upton is still
vintage
racing.?......hell
I thought he died
about same time as
Gary Hall!! and
now you say both
of you on the
track together in
the
future...awsome...</p>
<p>speaking of race
prepared panteras
what happened to
Gray Gregory and
his beast? I read
on Linked in he's
a builder now!<br>
Does he still have
the ranch? I loved
the way those Long
Horned cattle used
to run to the
fence to listen to
his race pantera
running...it
cracked me up.<br>
I though the
cattle were
dumb..they smart
as Gray said no
one eats
them..they are
ornamental
cattle....oh geez
has Texas changed1
;-)</p>
