cut again for the reverse louvers like I had on the old steel hood which blew off 4-5 years ago at SS....Yea it folded in half when it landed....you can find it somewhere buried in the desert next to cow pies 17 miles into the H318 run.....I had about 4-5 hours to sit out there and dig the burial hole with a spoon waiting for all the cars to complete their run ....yea it was ugly. about cooling anymore as I am 'slowing' down into semi-race retirement ;-)))....I will be content to just go up and 'look' fast in the Pantera at SS in future and tell everyone how I used to go 200 mph! ;-).....seriously .you may have missed what I said before on the 'decision' originally to go to a CF custom hood.

It was because I first got a 'deal' on the new Davis Cup radiator from one of the Forum guys (Green?)...it was brand new, still in a box and it worked great for ORR...not so great for street as it was too efficient.....it
was never built for a Pantera....it was so big that when Dick and I measured it for use in the Pantera we immediately realized even though Dick had to tell me 3-4 times that it was too wide and too TALL that we would not be able to use the 'stock' hood....

Even then Dick had to hot rod it in to fit.....a 'shoe-horn' fit for the front end to make it fit....Dick had cut clips and lean it as far forwad as he could get it and ran new plumbing....and he did a beautiful job.....and to keep that CF hood on at 150+ MPH I
had to tape it down before every ORR....the hood was fine at low to freeway to 100 mph speeds but air started creeping under it around center and lifting....it never came off but then I never ran the CF on the Pantera at ORR speeds.... it was a compromise on design as I did not want to turn Dick loose with his cutting torch on the front bulkhead or cutting the underside of the stock hood....and honestly I missed the look of the steel hood with the reverse Hall vents on it....and I found out about a year or two ago that DennisQ was able to get Ron Davis to build a 2-pass rad that would drop right into place in the Pantera so why have anything else....and someone like Mark or Rich are still in the pack to run 200 mph so I will be there with them to cheer them on....and I may come back later to run fast again but if I do Quella's 2-pass that drops right in will do the job for serious orr cooling.
<div style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);
