<DIV><STRONG>I now have the steering rack out of the car, must order bushing ( thought I had a new one but can't find ). The last guy who was in this rack took out the old bushing and cage -- installed a home made bushing from some white crap that looks like pvc pipe. I have made shims for the rack bump steer thing. I used 1/8 and 1/16 aluminum so I will be able to set amount of shim from 0 to 3/8 in steps of 1/16 till desired amount reached. I will remove 3/8 from the two caps where they fit against the brace. So for every amount less than 3/8 used between rack and car I will have to add that amount between cap and brace. But if ride height were to change in future correction can be done without drilling any holes in frame structure nor brace.</STRONG></DIV>

I wanted to pick up a <BR>magnetic mount CB antenna.<BR><BR>Today, I did some finish work on the interior. Installed the GPS <BR>antenna, GPS power cable and suction cup mount to determine routing of <BR>the cables and position of the GPS for best viewing. Then I installed <BR>the small Uniden CB I've been meaning to for 13 years. It has an easily <BR>removable microphone so I can take it out during the race. The antenna <BR>we picked up then got installed as well. Out for travel, in for racing.<BR><BR>Vacuumed the heck out of the interior, seats, floor mats. Polished the <BR>dash, console, door panels and firewall cover. Installed the seats. <BR>Washed the windows (all except the rear) with Rain-X planned
for later <BR>this weekend. Inserted the truck tub and vacuumed it. Put my standard <BR>kit in the tub: wheel cleaner/polish, instant wash, polishes, towels. <BR>Tire gauge, gloves, eye protection, 90* radiator hose (the only <BR>under-car piece that's -not- Gates Green Stripe), California duster and <BR>reflective pop-up window shade.<BR><BR>The drive to Radio Shack and back was uneventful. Though we never saw <BR>above 45 MPH. Tomorrow, I think we'll go on a shake-down cruise <BR>somewhere and try to put a hundred miles on it at speeds up to 70 MPH.<BR><BR>I'm going to try and get her in the air for an under-car inspection. <BR>Things always look different when you can get under it better. I need <BR>to begin putting my race clothes in a bag and put together a tool kit.<BR><BR>I need to build my checklists yet. Still have a way to go, but getting <BR>there.<BR><BR>No photos until I can get more server
