I got a couple K&N filters for my IR-EFIs which retail for about $50 bucks a piece which was cool....since you will be going to Vegas first all the sponsors will be there soaking up media/mag coverage...just in case Royal Purple shows up dont get caught wearing your AMSOIL DEALER tshirt ;-)

No it's not free. :)
I've been using Amsoil in all our rigs now for a few years. I used
to be a dealer 25 years ago, but dropped it some time back. After
nuking the old engine in the Mach I (the really old engine I rebuilt
25 years ago)[1], and reading everything about the lack of ZDDP in
modern oils, I switched back to Amsoil.

Yes, I wish it were free, but trying to find a sponsoring dealer
might be a bit tricky. Does Steve get -his- for free? I guess you
could say I'm sponsoring myself in that regard. :)

Asa Jay
[1] I believe the largest contributing factor to nuking the Mach I
engine was using "modern" SL grade engine oils with hardly any ZDDP.
All,
In addition to the public replies, I received a few private ones
as well. I'd like to thank everyone for their input, I consider
it valuable.

The engine is an older model Ford 351C. I wouldn't expect it to
have the same kind of tight tolerances a modern engine would
have. The majority of clearances on the rebuild came out to
within factory specs, but not necessarily on the "tight" side.
Therefore running something that would work well in a modern tight
engine may not be the best. That removed the 5W-20 from the list.

The engine is using a hydraulic roller camshaft, with full roller
rockers (fulcrums and tips).
The break-in oil I have is -supposedly- high in ZDDP. The Amsoil
product I'm looking at is also high in ZDDP, no worries there.

My choice based on non-forum feedback as well as the advice here,
is the 15W-50 product, here:
http://www.amsoil.com/storefront/rd50.aspx

Thanks everyone, :)

Consensus?
AMSOIL sponsoring you?

Fyi - Jack posted something comparing motor oils in
Newsletter in last few months.

When JB got a FREE case of Royal Purple at Silver State I
just stole his oil otherwise that liquid gold is too much
money in my humble opinion.

I've read all the claims by amsoil, redline, royal purple,
etc and I know you and others are loyal users but my
feedback from some pro drivers (JB & the Pope).was
unless you get sponsored FREE motor oil or are turning
7,000 R's for an hour any quality motor oil is fine.

After my initial break in I did use Mobil One for awhile
but went right back to Valvoline VR1 race oil because I
found a case in back of the garage I forgot.

I change it after avery orr or track event. Yea I read
there is some advantage to using a oil with a high zddp
content but why pay the.extra$2-3 bucks a qt for that
stiuff but is it worth 6-9 bucks a quart?

Only if you think so ;-)
