Asa how long did you run the non- detergent oil for? And what were your clearences like if you remember. 600 miles should be enough to seat in the rings. But I would at least run a ball hone in the cylinders and put new rings in at this point. Also I would lean the carb down considerably to prevent any fuel wash in the cylinders. I'm still in thinking mode for the synthetic oil as I don't believe that unless you have a high grade of synthetic oil does it protect your engine . As is evident by your pics.
