<BODY bgColor=#ffffff>
<DIV>Hi kids,</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Thought I would share some fun . . . </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Opened the Cleveland yesterday. My hope was to re-ring and check
everything. 15K mile motor and time to set the valves anyway as they are
making some noise (duh.)</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>I was told this is a 440hp motor. It dynoed 325 rwhp @6000rpm (and
not near peak). It has always blown oil.</DIV>
<DIV>One plug was pretty oily when removed (#8). #1 piston had all the
ring gaps nicely lined up . . . . #8 cylinder showed NO sign of a
crosshatch pattern.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Bearings: some wear noted, definately want to replace these. Also
some sign of dirt in oil!</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>When I pulled the pan I noticed gasket paper and glyptol chips stuck
to the oil screen, along with some pieces of metallic debris. Not a good
sign?</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Anyway, pulled the crank and set it aside only to find 2 lobes of the cam
shot - now I get to buy a new cam!!!</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>so, that is the status of fun and games in Colorado . . . .</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
