<DIV><FONT size=3>I promised the answer by noon. The PCV valve was allowing the manifold vacuum to pull oil into it ( and a bunch ). I will run more tests today and probably go to breathers in valve covers for now. I think the new engine is shooting oil to the PCV and vacuum is sucking it into the manifold -- for some reason more then the old engine.</FONT></DIV>

I ran the engine for about 30 min. and then installed the old PVC valve into the system for the smoke/oil usage test run. I have the results of that test. But before I <SPAN>divulge</SPAN> the results, I would like<STRONG> comments as to what you all think I found</STRONG>. I will post the results buy tomorrow noon.</FONT></DIV>

<DIV><FONT size=3>I just ran the engine for 1.25 hrs with no smoke and no drop on dipstick !! !! !! WOW !! I don't have answer to why yet as I made 3 changes at once. I went back to old intake --- put sealer on both sides of gaskets -- and didn't use the PVC valve. I wore a hole in upper <SPAN>radiator</SPAN> hose on the alt so I will have to go get another from the farm tomorrow and put a piece of another hose over it to protect from ware.</FONT></DIV>

Could it have been pulling too much oil vapor, or maybe too much oil in the heads?<BR><BR>What do you think the problem is?<BR><BR>I once had someone tell me they like to torque the intake to the heads before torquing the heads to the block... though I've never done it that way. The gasket should have enough to take up the minute amount of the slack.<BR><BR>Do you have any indications of oil seeping past the intake gasket? I guess that's the real question. If not, then I'd be looking for cracks in the manifold sucking oil from the valley. But before I assume that, I'd need to know what kind of intake gasket did you use. Did you use a turkey tray?
