[TPR] SS Headers

Stainless conducts heat much slower than mild steel which is good. Keeps the energy in the gases.
The more insulation the better.
Recommend at least coating on the inside.
Make sure they don’t coat the mating surfaces at the slip joints. Makes for almost impossible assembly of the headers. You will spend hours sanding off the coating at the slip joints if they were tight before coating. Don’t ask how I know that.
Be sure the support the mufflers.
The pictured headers have the first step sections coated on the inside and outside. The last steps are only on the inside.
If not for the bling it is better to coat them inside and out.

The shop that put on the ceramic coating did it inside and out. Was told while the bling is gone its still functional. For me its gonna be an easy cost analysis decision…
$450 to recoat the steel headers or vs $3,800 for stainless steel which is gonna blue on me…yea thanks for reminding me!
Haha

I think coatings are sprayed on mostly. Then baked. Thus only exterior. At least what I beleive.

It’s difficult to coat the insides and I don’t believe there is much if any additional efficiency.

The mufflers are -going- to discolor based on your use-case. I can’t recall anybody coating mufflers either.

Be happy, it’s a mark of a man who uses the car as intended….. drives it! and drives it fast.

Here’s a followup on Ron McCalls SS headers.
410-596-3170 and Bob Benson just ordered a set for his Pantera. BEAUTIFUL!!!

He can build Windsor or Cleveland and the cost is $3,800 + shipping (+|- $250 to left coast). He’s working with a known fabricator now as demand is great but you should still figure 10-12 weeks currently. All American 🇺🇸 sourced material so he is not inspecting any new tariff material increases.

I have one question for you motorhead engineers. ..

Do you see merit in having the headers ceremic coating ‘inside’ ???
to increase longevity, reduce heat and I ask this because my BORLA taillpipes on my 180’s got hot enough to stain one side.

Appreciate your feedback. For me this year I am just gonna refinish my existing 180’s with new ceremic coating as its been on for 8 years and it no longer is shiny and you know MD Loves his bling 😂🤣

Yea how time flys!!
