OK, here is my most memorable story about my amazing Italian grandparents.Every each of my 3 siblings got to spend a special week with them alone.
They argued every day and every night but they were crazy about one another…they lived in the city (Seattle) in the rainier Valley which was called Garlic Gultch…..and like all immigrants they grew much of their own produce and fruit in their yard and also had chickens.
One of the funniest best memories was the day I heard my grandmother (Nona) screaming at my grandfather (Nono) in Italian and when I went out into the back yard to see what was going on I watched in amazement as Nona had found all the secret stashed girly magazines Nono stashed in the chicken coop, except he didn’t do a very good job of it, and she found them all and threw them all over the back yard.
The most shocking moment was the day all most blind Nona in attempting to cut a chickens head off but accidntiall cut the chickens wing off who then ran around the back yard while we all watched in horror as Nona chased after him.
My brother caught the chicken finished him off and then handed Nona the dead chicken to clean and cook. She plucked the chicken and cooked it for dinner…when we all sat down for dinner she put the chicken on the table but it still had quills sticking out of it. Remember she was very blind…No one dared say anything but there was some laughter.
Yep, miss them both. ❤️
They were the best.

I changed title as I love your farm and day lily story (your grandma's 95 years of her lilies and how they are still treasured by you and your family is amazing). I killed my peonies in one year, at least my 4 bushes of big gardenias and others are thriving. You are a dear man for your kind words and valuing the important things in life like family and flowers and great friends and sentimental memories of loved ones. My grandparents were so special and I lived with them for awhile too. Have a zillion lifelong great stories. We are so fortunate to have these wonderful memories. Great Great Grandfather fought against R.R. in late 1800's. They were trying to build a line Dead Center thru his several 100 acre farm!Of course he lost!! They were gonna 'Condemn' the land & take it anyway!!Be he got $$$ they offered like everyone else & a Concession!!
Farm was one mile from little Hamlet & train station.He never went there again.He walked out back door 300 yards up side road to track.Waved his little suitcase @ train: it stopped & picked him up.When he came home: train stopped & let him off @ same place...right on his property.
I heard: because I lived half my growing up years w Grandparents....in that same house!!
That same little suitcase: (& some of their 1850 furniture)It resides here with me today!!

The lawyers for the title company are still working the easement issue on the prior 10 acres. No updates for a month or so. They’ve been futzing with it for nearly two years. Once settled we plan to sell it. We got tired of waiting…. This young pup ain’t getting any younger.
The new property was sold as one unit of two parcels. That’s what made it such a good deal for us because we don’t have to split it later; that work is already done.
The new 11 acres is located at about the same latitude as the other 10 except it’s several miles West, -and- it’s not right off the highway. It’s really quiet except for the traffic to the lake that’s a couple miles further down the dirt road.
I’ll be taking some time away from the Pantera tomorrow to file some plans with the county. I need to get some contractors started on land management and cutting a new driveway. Gotta get the hidden bunker for Team Pantera Racing and the Northwest chapter of the Pantera Research institute into construction.😉

Closed on 11.4 acres last Friday. I’ve been trying to keep it low key until we were closed.
It’s two parcels. One is 5.5 acres, the other is 5.9. That makes it convenient to break out and sell later on. It has more slope than the other one that is still in limbo so site planning will be more interesting.
Lots of trees and brush that need to be managed and a clearing made for houses and shop.
Both lots front a maintained dirt county road. Power is underground in that area and right at the road. No easements. The only special consideration is a 75’ wetland designation that we can’t build on or within 195’ of. Not a problem. Cool part is I -can- drill my well there because the drill rig is not a “permanent” structure. Wish me luck in getting good water. 😁
We plan to work this as fast as we can because we’re so far behind. Hopefully the Title and legal people can get things all settled on the other 10 so we can sell it and put the money toward this new one fast.
My plan is to get some actual work done on your Pantera tomorrow.
