I may still have a dwell meter somewhere. Not the same one my dad had. He had a craftsman unit, big box that had several things that could be checked. I remember it had a large meter face and I recall him using it a lot when changing out points on his cars.
I’ve not had to do that since about 1986 or so when I converted the Mach I to a Duraspark. But I seem to recall running across a handheld dwell meter somewhere in the shop not too long ago.
In fact, the last Ford 8N I worked on, I converted to a Pertronix so the owner would never have to mess with it again. It was the front of block mounted distributor which was way harder to get to than the side mount.

JB's knowledge today takes me back 'DECADES'!!!!Never even got concerned w Dwell & Dual points in M&M car. ( forget, but seems like used a Mallory HEI type dist ) Just never had an issue. Top RPM was 7,500 (540 ci / 800 hp) Seldom ran above 6,800. 6,300 was an easy 196 mph...& ran real smooth & comfortable there.
Searched memory.....been 40+ years since I even had a Dwell Meter . But used it religiously back then!! Especially on race Honda engines that went to a little over 10,000 rpm's!!!Sooooo much more important, easier & precise than just a feeler gauge.

ME: a much older, rustier version!!!CD#3
