 right you are CD.

Dual points just allow double the RPM (coil saturation) with the same point spring rate.  The shaft has two sets of points that are offset.
Good times. Don't make me go out to the garage and take a picture of a dual-point distributor!

Yep...well said!!Forgot some details: but didn't dual points allow far more time to charge condensers & thus stronger spark?Something like that!!Cobwebs get in the way of some details.

Subject: Re: [TPR] 4 things silently killing your classic Ahemmm,I said dual-points and how do you know it’s not done? How many of you know the actual meaning of dwell angle? (I know CD does). Even though the distributor runs off the cam, dwell is the number of degrees of crankshaft rotation that the points are closed. Right. JB

Anything with a distributor hole should work as long as you have a set of points and condenser.  Dawg is SOL except that I still have an intake or two that fit 351C and a carb.  What I may not have are spare distributors.  Hmmmm, maybe I should visit the pull it lots.

Of course:I bet even that's suspect to work.  Given the electronic ignition & electronic fuel injecton!!Upgrades to new tech can bite you in arse!!
My modern vehicles....nothing will work save the cigarette lighters! But two out of three new ones: don't even have that accessory port!!CD#3

Subject: Re: 4 things silently killing your classic Guilty as charged....I have had my Pantera in the dry dock for months now....other then 1999 when we rebuilt her this is the longest time (9 months) she has mostly sat ignored. I miss her!
Will see how angry she is on my not giving her attention in March when I get her up to you in Spokane for an annual and you give me the "good news / bad news" dignosis.haha.
