Morning Team,
Thanks to many of you it looks like we will have enough POCA members in January to apply for chapter approval. So thank you to all who responded to me. I believe Cheryl will be a great POCA president. Will have more to share on that subject later.
Will call this a unconfirmed schedule at this point but for sure we want to support the following events...
1. The SCTA/El Mirage Dry Lakes schedule in May
2. The Virginia City Hill Climb which is as I recall a weekend before SS
3. Silverstate usually 3rd week of Sept.
4. Steve & Ron's vintage racing at Road America - not sure of the date yet
5. A POCA Convention/Fun Rally - Cheryl wants to make that happen again and we should hear more early next year.
6. Big Bend ORR - Texas - John Taphorn is working with Michael Frasier to see if we can get some dedicated slots for Panteras as this is always well attended.
7. Sand Hills ORR - Anyone registered....OR do we have a volunteer to track this usually full ORR by January? Bud or Mark are you guys tracking and will we have a Pantera there?
Latest update on my new race engine and headers is Danny Mazzalli is looking at delivery in Feb and Ron McCall should have the stainless steel 180 headers and muffflers close to the same time frame. As I think mentioned before I am having Denny Finn to do this and some aero work and also install a flush mount windshield with the goal to get some road and test track time before the SCTA event in May.
Because of the existing SSCC rules it does not sound like I will have to be happy to try and run 200 in the 1-mile shootout friday...But will not be able to even attempt to run 200 on course Sunday unless I am in the 170 Group....confident the Pantera can do the 200 but with a 170 Average won't happen unless I can find someone young and dumb enought to try it in the Pantera....Hearing I could do it if I wanted to see if I could average 160 (10 mph variance) but the 1-mile shoot out and the El Mirage event just makes allot more sense from a safety standpoint.
Either way I am uber excited to get this new engine in the Pantera.
Equally excited that Tony is planning to come back and Gil is planning to bring his Pantera and even the new POCA prez (Cheryl) is seriously considering it along with a couple others in Arizona.
Good Times,
Dennis
