Many many thanks to everyone who made it this year to Ely.

Bigger thanks to Peter and Jim for removing those locked lug nuts and resetting torque on my truck wheels. Peter by some miraculous achievement brought the tools to remove those locked Lugnuts, and we all looked at them like when was the last time you use these?

The answer was more than 20 years ago when he shut down his German auto repair business in Palm Springs. He dust off between him and Jim they got all the Lugnuts off and torque them but they estimated that the tire shop had those Lugnuts on it about 300 pounds which is just crazy. We could remove them as a strong guy he couldn’t move them by hand it was crazy. One more reason to make you dictate to any tire shop what your wheel torques should be.

Like a bobo i just never paid attention until they day I checked and realized the tire shop (Les Schwab) had returned the wrong tool to my glove box. Worse they would not take repsonsibility.

The other big challenge was to Chris’ Pantera which during Tech the Tech Inspectors noticed leaking fuel. Turned out to be fuel bowl bolt gasket on Chris 427ci Windsor with the Demon 850 double pumper. Not wasting any time Asa (aka McQuiver) got a rebuild kit and rebuilt it on my trailer reinstalled just in time for the Parade of Rwce Cars thru Ely.

No sooner then we got back from the Car Parade and Chris’ side view mirror fell off in Asa’s hands!!!
Thank you Jerry Sackett!!!

Its not over by a long shot. Mark and Jim rolled in at midnight last night. Not before jim got delayed 7 hours in Boston. He no sooner got in Marks Z06 and passed out! Haha

Gerry came in via Salt Lake City renting a rental car and by last night we had the team assembled.

In spite of Lee, and Paul and JB not making it we all had a great time together today and tonight at Racers Welcome Reception.

Meeting tomorrow morning for breakfast at the park for Car Show and then its last minute tire and wheel checks, fuel up our two Panteras and our two Corvettes (Russ’ C7 and Marks Z06) so we were just 1 short to have our own team this year.

More tomorrow…and after Car show is the Drivers Meeting and then our team dinner.

Big thanks to Lisa Bidenkapp (Phoenix Powder Coating) and Chris Terp (The Seminar Group) for sponsoring us this year. Chris offered his Pantera to Asa so Asa and Sam could have a memory to remember forever.

More to report tomorrow.

Good Times!

Mad Dawg & the TEAM
