Guys,
We have put Asa Jay to work, and we are having a great time.
FYI we are not running an oval -- we are running a road course that uses
the oval. So it still needs to turn. And, remember -- this is an FIA
"1972-spec" Group 3 car with limited changes. We build the car so that we
could run in a FIA-pre 12/31/72 group because we complied with the December
1972 FIA Group 3 rules (e.g., six attachment points for the cage, stock
shocks, stock sway bars (we cheated a bit by putting the GTS swaybars
on)). Unless we want to build a car that runs in the Group 4, Goup 5,
Exhibition or Post-73 classes, we pretty much are racing what they sold the
customers in 72 as a Group 3 car. Our goal is to finish and show people
that a nearly stock Pantera can not only look great, but also do pretty
well in a race and then run for beer. We have enough fully built race cars,
this one is our piece of art on wheels. :)

We already lost the Norma Prototype -- the first session cracked the roll
hoop behind the driver. After some research, we are finding that many of
the older tube frame prototypes have stopped running this race because they
are so stiff and the incredible down force and other stresses are cracking
their frames. We don't want to strip the whole car here to see where else
it may be cracked -- so we are done with that car and our weekend is now in
the hands of the Pantera.
