I will add Ford has held the dealers feet to the fire on the EV rule...You want to sell our FORD (or Chevy etc) then you WILL sell the EV's too.
EV Mandates are just one more issue like cancel culture and WOKE policies why Dems lost the election.
Dawg not a Republican but I certainly understand what the majority of Americans were saying when they elected Trump...like him or hate him just remember your stuck with him for 4 years

I’ve heard dealers still have inventory from 2022 they can’t sell.  Gas powered trucks.  It might be a great time to buy a brand new truck even if it’s a few years old.

Excellent analysis Asa! I am all most old enough to remember horse and buggy owners were none too happy to see automobiles back in the day(1906)...those things claimed many made so damn much noise...but wait a minute said many,
"Those battery cars are quiet and stop scare my horses"
Or kids who don't know history, saying
"too bad you old racers did not have turbo or super chargers back in the day"
PS Ever notice how EV's never have a patriotic or military or even a 'baby-on-board" sticker on the back window?LOLJust sayin, if anyone wants to buy an EV I am on board but let them pay road taxes like the rest of us and stop charging tax payers for all the subsidies EV mfg and sellers and buyers receive.
Was in Vegas a week ago for SEMA and was at dinner with a couple next to us and he and his wife owned a Ford dealership in Michigan. I did not share my own my own opinion on EV's as I did not want to give him indigestion but when I said I had a couple Ford powered automobiles of my own his interest perked up "what kind" did he ask. So I told him the F-150 and the Pantera....and we had a great dinner conversation during and after dinner....not sure the women were as excited as my new friend and I were but when the subject of EV's did come up and you guys know I WOULD bring it up he said we are loosing money on every EV we sell and we also can not sell the ones we have....so there you have it....first hand opinion of a Ford Dealer!!!
Yea, perhaps I should not of been surprised but I was.

I think Elon Musk introduced a disruption to the industry when he released Teslas on the public.  Since then and even before the mandates, other auto builders took notice.  The mandates may have tried to force the auto industry into pursuing electric much faster than possible, and the market has had to push back mostly due to electric infrastructure limitations.  Even though the mandates have not yet been repealed, you can see the likes of Toyota, Ford, and maybe others who pretty much said... no can do; not in the timeframe the administration wanted.

I think EVs are here to stay and will enjoy steady adoption without government mandates.  Little nudges always seem to work best, like buyer incentives (tax breaks), and utility participation (free charger installations).  But there also has to be a balance.  States lose gas tax revenue with electric cars, and some don't have a plan to replace that.  Others have talked about increasing licensing tax or charging by the mile driven.  Things like that still need to be discussed, investigated and figured out.

Overall, I agree Trump should nix the EV mandate so the industry and market can settle back to normalcy and take the changing course as smoothly as possible.

But what do I know. ;)
