Hey my Peeps,
Further to C8/Z06 5-point race harness compromise discussion and ideas for your “other” car without a race seat for the required submarine belt using the 5-point system in competition.
I saw a 6-point system installed on another C8 and did not like the set up with stock Corvette sport seats….. its a personal choice but FYI I prefer the 5-point.
Asa Jay Laughton (thanks Asa!) engineered and installed both the Harness bar (Paragon) and mounted the submarine belt to the back steel plate on my C8 where lap belts are connected in Photo 1
In photo 2 you can see the harness bar and in Photo 3 you can see how it all goes together on the seat.
When not in competition the harness sits behind the seat out of the way and I use the stock lap belt.
Its a very good install and I actually have a tighter fit on the submarine belt then I do on my Pantera race seat or what I saw on 6-point harnesses on your ‘other’ cars with OUT a race seat.
MD
PS - IN photos 4 & 5 PARAGON and others also sells a nice quick release fire extinguisher mount.
Excellent hardware and mine is installed using the stock seat rails on passenger seat to pass. Seat moves back or front with no clearance issues. Local friends don’t even notice it sitting in passenger seat…its out of the way but easily accessed by driver….Again excellent job by Asa, the TPR Master Wrench.
