A couple two-three possible candidates Owen. One of the Corvette owner/drivers (Chuck Ward) owner/driver of the bad ass '69 Vette, one of the Jag drivers with a '64 Jag XKE (Gunter "the other German" Pichler) and of course Lyall Edey, the PNW Pantera member who raced his Porsche 944 all weekend, who gave an update on his Pantera project not being ready this year but Lyall said his 944 has the fuel tank capacity and everything else that would pass tech to run in Sept.
And long time Pantera racer, Pete Beckham who got hit from behind during qualifying session Friday said he does want to come back back to Ely to run. His last Pantera run was at the NORC in 1997.....Pete was driving his Mark Martin race car during Friday's qualifying. And Pete admitted ORR is safer. haha.....and one more driver (Parker McKeen) with a '67 Alfa GTV race car asked allot of questions and he had not even heard of ORR before. One more good reason for the SSCC Board to get the word out on what they offer.
I told them all I would send them the TPR site, and info on rules and some background on our TPR mixed bag and how 'the other' Pantera back up cars came into TPR.... Also forgot that Chad wrote back and said he was interested in running his amazing Pantera this year and if not this year then next.....and Larry's customer Cory also still planning to join us. Very possible we can have 5+ Panteras again plus the usual assortment of pirates bringing their 'other' cars.Arrrh!
Again, hhuge for me was hanging with my brother Gary, Chris and Bill was allot of fun. My brother, Gary was a drag racer for decades before retiring so to get him to a road race at 80 years young was a big deal for me. He has a numbers matching '69 El Camino, 4-speed with an original 396ci big block. Now I need to work on him. He needs to change gears but yea he is on board as well. Now just need to get them there.MD

You can’t see much at these races unless you walk back in the paddok area talking to the racers working in their vintage racers hearing their stories. Everyone with ear to ear grins…big A Production high compression big blocks blowing out ear drums, smell of race gas. Seeing kids at the race track for their first time, the look on their faces… nothing better then being around like minded friends, family and racers who love to go fast…lots of smiles all around.
Good Times!
