[TPR] D day Dichotomy: cynical vs hopeful

THAT’S what has me worried about how this current trend of behavior differs!!!
How the young treat authority TODAY!!  Sets the stage for their whole life.  Sets the stage for how they raise THEIR children!!  Respect for Elders or anyone in authority is OFTEN Lacking!!  NOW, getting thru college has an even lesser effect on my level of trust in the system!!
Laurie saying 6-8 yr olds causing problems!!!

Our daughter teaches HS.  Her horror stories raise hair on my neck.  Students ARE an issue.  Parents BACKING UP THAT BAD ATTITUDE ARE HORRIBLE!!!!

THOSE ARE REASONS I WORRY THIS HAS A MORE LASTING TIME FRAME THAN OTHER PERIODS OF TIME!!
IN LATE ‘60’S OR EARLY ‘70’S: KIDS COULD BEHAVE BADLY, BUT AT LEAST PARENTS MIGHT KICK THEIR AZZZZZ!!!
Back then, police were funded & DA’s actually prosecuted crime!!!!  What a concept!!!

Covid: lockdowns, LACK of education: can & likely WILL affect this generation for the rest of their lives!
Covid: and lack of real work ethics: zoom meetings took over from ‘personal interactions’!!  I KNOW I stand pretty tall on WANTING to have interactions with a real person, but I think it’s sad NOT to be eye to eye with a person.  A local McDonalds in our small town just built: there is NO person at the counter to wait on you.  You are Forced to use the Kiosk to order & pay.  Big place, but a tiny desk just to hand you food.  I tried three machines to order.  I got help from a person bringing food out.  It seems my skin doesn’t want to activate machines properly.  (I nearly punched machines OUT.)  I left with NO food.  I said VERY loudly at counter so the WHOLE kitchen staff could hear me.  “Machines don’t work..  NO problem….I’m just gonna leave!!”
I will NEVER RETURN.

GROCERY STORES: SELF CHECKOUT: I USE….BUT RARELY.  I LIKE having a clerk….& I TELL them soo!!  I tell the mgr whenever I get a chance.

Special Needs kids: teaching them takes some real skill!!  I know one major skill: IS PATIENCE!!  I lack that!!!
Special needs kids: I don’t know whats true, but I’d guess THAT classroom has INCREASED in size in the last decade!!
SAD: but I see adults: that SHOULD HAVE BEEN in a Special Needs class….but weren’t!!

And along those lines:
Colorado people: it was Clearly evident to me that they made eye contact OFTEN!!  They smiled at you OFTEN!!  For that simple act, was a clear signal to me 40 years ago….’this is the kind of place I want to live!!’  Around people like that….they even hold the door open, when it’s not necessary!!
Colorado is STILL VERY friendly!!!
But since masks ON during Covid:  That instantly took a nose dive!!!
It’s concerning to me!!!!  Masks simply changed 80% of people’s concept of social behavior OVERNIGHT!!!!!

I’m a guy.  I don’t notice a ring on a finger, or forget to see Deb got her hair done today….or even a week later!!  ( Boy do I get in trouble!! )

But purposely avoid eye contact!!!!   I see it every time!!!

I celebrate our past generations, for the sacrifice that GAVE US THE FREEDOMS WE HAVE TODAY!!!
If a person Disrespects that mentality just ONE time….well…..I have a boatload of patience…..BUT NOT AT THAT MOMENT!!!!!!!!

You Laurie like Dave are true patriots. Excellent read you sent to me but not the TPR group.

You and I have shared much about the deteriorating schools in LA and elsewhere. What got my attention was when you shared that elementary school teachers are being physically assaulted  by 6-8 year olds!
Yea crazy.

But high praise to you working in that gauntlet with special needs kids for more than 3 decades. You and your teaching colleagues do not get enough money, praise or respect for all you do!
