[TPR] PANTERA Custom Performance/Race Wheels

M&M car had a big hole in center.
Hub had maybe 4" extension.
Wheels had a big opening that fit right over it when putting wheel back on car.
Made it a LOT easier than a normal car wheel to line up lugs!

Designed for quick pit changes!! For me, it was just a big azzzed cavity to allow grease to flow away from outer bearing.
No problem though. I went thru bearings prior to Every race. The synthetic grease moved, but not bad in 150 miles.

Hey as you and JB remember I loved Purple. HAHA

PS Someone asked me the front wheel has an extended center....the answer is that is to get the backspacing correct on the front 17" wheels that is what I had to do to compensate the Pantera's extended front hug.
It is not a problem on the 18" front wheels and none at all on the rear 18x10" wheels.

MD, Trying to REMEMBER not to double address our members on emails that are also going to TPR

As an aside, I just ordered my second set of Chinese performance wheels. My first set and the set Mark and I purchased have been great.
And wants to thank Mark and Asa for their support..

Will not have my new wheels until after Silver State (+/- October....but if any of you are interested in ordering wheels we have already come up with backspacing for both 17-19" (8x17, 8x18, and 8x19 wheels) please reach out to me.The one's I had that I sold to Chris when I sold the Pantera I ran at SS in 2022 and they performed there beautifully.

Want to thank Mark again for all his advise and counsel during this process. And to thank Asa for talking me out of purple wheels.

Good Times

Dennis & Mad Dawg

NOT sure if Fed Rules still the same today. (my info from late '70's)

Thru Fed loophole: you could bring into USA: ONE NON-Conforming vehicle, per person, Per Lifetime.
(Uncle used to do it)

What I remember was just Fed Safety Regs.....I don't remember if it applied to EPA.

I brought some Canadian built vehicles into USA. (Even Semi trucks)
You HAD to make sure the sticker in engine bay for EPA regs & Safety sticker in door jam were PERFECT!! Not even an edge deformed.....that showed it passed USA Regs.
Then you were OK @ Border inspection.

Short story follows....when I was working in Frankfurt in 1982 all the team bought BMW's or 911's.
The real bargain then was the 928's....the Germans were not fond of them and a friend bought two for a steal and brought both back to California.

Of course then he found out neither 928 could be licensed for the street back here in the States and at that time because they also could not pass the required US DOT & EPA requirements...He actually paid more to make one car legal then what he paid for it originally in Germany. I believe now all the Porsche's manufactured in Germany all meet U.S. specs...but not then. He then sold the other 928 to a friend who wanted to convert it into a dedicated race car since again neither 928 could pass DOT/EPA rules without extensive modifications (engine, glass, door bars etc.).

I drove the 928and it was an awesome fast car. Should be on Asa's wish list as a back up to his Mach 1 in pieces.! [Emoji] [Emoji] [Emoji]

And then sold the other to a friend who wanted to convert it into a dedicated race car.

PS Speaking of Harnesses ASA, is Chris Pantera good on harnesses?

I'm sure somebody will like it, but -not- me. Looks too much like a Nissan. I can see the GT40 styling cues but it's bad, baaaaad... BAAAAAAAD (and not the kind of bad in a good way. I mean hideous kind of bad).

I refrain from giving my opinion on the styling of this GT90. Not the specs, just the styling. What do you think? It'll be shown at a new display at the Petersen.

If anyone on the team needs a harness, I have one of these Simpson 5-point harnesses that expires in December you can have for the cost of shipping. It'll get you through SSCC this year.

Everyone should check the expiration of their racing harness to make sure it will still be valid for SSCC. Just a note SFI rated b

elt are good for 2 years. FIA belts are good for 5 years. There are FIA belts on sale now with an expiration of 2027. They are all 6 point types.
