It sounded like it was revving good, but not revving 'fast' as full race engines would.
Then my guess was 6500 rpm's. When they showed tach 'on screen'...I had it pegged right.
M&M engine was 540ci. GM designed it for 5,200 red line. We changed ALL the internals, plus went Solid Roller cam, lifters, even roller rockers. 6,500 rpm was MY personal red line. But it had a digital limiter in distributor @ 7,500. I DID twist it up there a few times!!!
MAN. .....WOULD IT WAIL THEN!!! Make your hair stand on end to hear that many cubes rev as high as a Small Block!!!

Pantera: on long straights when it opened up it was reaching 6,500 / 165 mph pretty easy!! Most car struggle as air pressure / speed rises!! This did not!!!
It coulda used another gear in the box...it was 'Pulling' just fine!!!!
BUT: your words are perfectly put!
Car needs to be handled 'Within' driver / owner limitations FIRST!!!
Over the years, there have been MANY cars 'In the Wall' when that rule was ignored!!!

Yeah, sweet!!!
6,500 rpms pretty good, but those 12,000 rpm engines get your heart boiling too!!
He shoulda had One more gear on long straight. He was pulling those 6,500 rpms easy & held it there a long time!!
Sounded like he'd do above 165 mph pretty easy!!
