WOW….what an adventure. LOL’d at NHP ticketing and of course , the referral to ‘Breaking Bad”…
“it was running great just before it quit” 😂😂😂
Please share the progress and photos of your PRI progress and “lessons learned”. As well as Alex’s progress.
For you and the few and the proud who drove your Pantera’s on that massive road trip from Oklahoma to Reno and back. Has to be some great stories there as well.
So hoping you will ahare your experiences.
Very proud of you!

Dear Dennis,
Summer plans revolve around the Pantera Research Institute.
The summer Run to Reno was 3,500 miles round trip. Fantastic driving and scenery. Mis-adventures included brother Alex’s engine failure on the Loneliest Road in America. Alex has some interesting stories about getting his car towed to Larry Stock’s shop. He describes the ordeal as something resembling Breaking Bad with tow truck companies and interesting characters that live in the Nevada deserts. We did learn that the Nevada law enforcement officers are equipped with instant-on radar.
The summer plans are to finish cleaning up Pantera Two from the trip. Then continue with engine repairs on Pantera One and re-install the push rods and set the rocker arm pre-load. Road test and re-install the deck lid. Oh, and fix the fancy fuel sender. Then, pull the drivetrain out of Alex’s Dark Energy Pantera and teardown the 427 Windsor stroker and take the dis-assembled engine block and parts to the engine builder for an experienced forensic analysis for the failure (leading theories a) sub-standard heat-treatment on the camshaft; b) failed rocker arm with loose parts jamming the distributor-camshaft gear interface). As the old saying goes, “It was running great just before it quit.” While the engine bay is vacant, there will be further clean up and probably a modification to the engine hatch to utilize M8 socket head bolts. Possibly, some front A arm bushing mods for big positive caster……and some other things that I can’t recall now ( but they are written down). Of course, after re-assembly, road testing and de-bugging is required and I look forward to that. ( the engine previously dynoed at 525 hp).
So, a full summer plate of Pantera projects.
After all that, I will start to build another engine. Aussie heads with more porting; Funnelweb 2V intake and a new camshaft.
It’s always something. Staying cool with flow-through garage ventilation plus fans and lot of hydration.
Warmest regards, Chuck Engles

Morning Team.
Okay guys time for you all to share what you are all up to this summer.
Thought I would share I spoke to Peter Menyhart this morning and John Bentley and Chris Terp yesterday.
Peter is now back in his beloved Bavaria for a month drinking good beer and eating great Braut. He sounded allot better then he did a couple months ago when he wqas so sick so happy to report he is feeling and doing allot better. Progress on his Pantera is slow due to triple digit temps.
John also reported he finally has a sale agreement on buying a new home for his Yella Pantera. Back to his old stomping grounds near Woodward Ave and enjoying his new home again.
Chris Terp living the good island life sent a photo of his white legs behind the wheel of his Pantera on Vashon Island Washington and his nee project Willys.
Okay guys…. send me some updates and PHOTOS on how you are beating the heat and what your doing to escape the heat this summer.
Locally Randy and I are staying cool here on pacific coast next to Oregun and Kali border.
Chris’ new Pantera Yella Willys project.
Hope to hear and see MORE more from you guys soon.
GOOD TIMES
🤙🏽🏝️🍀
