Dang leave it to a Chevy engineering I'm over here in mountain for 7 weeks excuse me 6 weeks and I'm missing my Corvette. And I'll always miss that show me until the day I die I kept it for about 35 years and damn it I sold it worst day of my life. Side note even back then people said it was a fake can you believe that? Of course not all people just jealous people that didn't know anything.  I've got to say that I'm amazed that current Shelby fans including Shelby American themselves think the KR was so great well it was if you had it a little touch to it. Everybody out there realize please mine was completely stock when I bought it. It came with a cast iron 80 lb intake, a single point distributor, 3.0 open rear end granted it had the NASCAR for opinion spider gears but really what the hell. I changed all that and ended up with a NASCAR sidewinder single four barrel manifold a dual point distributor MSD which really woke it up because they like to run rich and MSD fires for six degrees of the crankshaft rotation multiple spark discharge you know.  I am sure it's even better now but my idle speed had to be turned down after installing that. I put on an adco rear sway bar and I'm buying the best tires Good Year offered as my final build over the years. When I was in the army I was able to buy CragerSS. Wheels for 25 bucks a piece which I ditched over the years and went back to the original hubcaps. I bet no one knows even Shelby America that the KR steel wheel we're not made by Ford but made by Kelsey Hayes. I saved them. About Ford and did not have 15 in Wheels in the right width to throw on the car. So there you go a hero car today but steel wheels another slowpoke parts. I ended up with a 350 gears with Detroit locker.

Entering turn 2 at Spokane Raceway Park in the Pantera without having scrubbed enough speed in turn 1.  Overcooked it and ended up spun out in the gravel.  Drove it out and back to pits.  Had rocks in my rims (photos to prove it) and air was still holding.  Drove it home and took the wheels off to have fixed.
I was still picking gravel out of the body years later.  It sprayed up into some pretty inaccessible places.

Sad to say, but I have done worse on track while racing.  Sometimes not my fault, several times definitely my fault.   :((.
But I agree, this is truly stupid.

Not a real good close up but it looked like a casual veer off into the right lane and smack into the post of the Goodyear sign.  It didn’t look like a loss of control due to an up shift (at least not to me but again it was too far away).  Maybe he passed out from the acceleration?
