Subject: [TPR] Merry Christmas
Wow, what a weird year this has been.
I'm working from home full time and seem to have less time for me and
the family. What the heck is up with that?
Restaurants are closed, then they're open, then they're closed. Well, at
least Idaho is nearby and the family can still have a great sit-down
dinner over there. :)
We started on a new shop in March and I just this week passed the
insulation inspection with the county which means I can now cover the
interior walls. Well, if OSB weren't over $30 a sheet. Holy Cow! My
brother-in-law bought his last batch about six months ago and paid only
$18 a sheet. I'll be waiting until after January 1 when a friend, who
works at Boise Cascade, might be able to get me what they call "blows"
of plywood for cheap. They're basically plywood laminates that ended up
with bubbles in them and not suitable for retail sale. In a shop? Oh
heck yea... the inspector even said if I can get those, they'd be great
for the interior walls. Not to mention it could save me about a
thousand dollars in costs.
Once I get the insulation covered, I can start in on the Mach I again.
Lots of plans... no gumption or time though. I'm pleased to say I had a
great time working on Mad Dawg's Pantera earlier this year and I'm
looking forward to the next time we get to the Silver State Classic
Challenge. Hopefully that will be in 2021. Unfortunately, the Dog moved
another six hours farther out, so now it's an all-day drive to get there.
Steve Lisa's crew has done some awesome work on my old Pantera 5533. It
looks slightly different, yet still sports some of the neat things I did
to it. I pray he has a successful race season with it in 2021.
And for the rest of us, I also pray for success in all our endeavors,
whatever they may be and wherever they may lead.
Merry Christmas and a Happy 2021 to us all,
Asa Jay
