 Hello Team,Few items to report:
1. Picture above is something like what you would have encountered during the recent NORC race.   In case you didn't get our Owen Green's post on the May race, here's the basic summary.  The weather was freezing with a combo of rain, snow, hail, and sleet, thus the speeds were knocked down to seventy class.  Good news is that ninety-four cars started, and ninety-four finished. Poor Owen said he was entirely drenched and frozen at the start line and had to return to Ely in attempts to defrost himself.  He reported these conditions just prior to heading to the Banquet.  I checked out messages on the SSCC message board and someone explained that race dates are set far in advance with all that's required, permits, and coordination of rescue squads, police, and so on, and can not be changed.  Although this was not what was anticipated those who attended wrote posts of the good times they had, and how great it was to spend time with good friends (rather than work) once again.  Someone mentioned that at the Awards Banquet, the trophies were just as coveted and thrilling to receive as any of the full speed races.  Seems all had a fine time despite the conditions.  One thing is for sure, I'd say it was a prudent decision that you guys skipped this one and held out for warm, or *Some Like it HOT, September.  Even those die-hards, Mad Dawg and John Bentley surprisingly sat this one out.
2. Speaking of September's SSCC, seems we'll be having some newcomers, per Mr. Dawg.  He's been busily enticing new recruits, as usual, up in the Northern Territory.  Some of the guys who belong to the Panteras Northwest Chapter of POCA seem intrigued and others of his friends from his recent event, the race at Portland International Raceway, will be joining our Team.  I believe we now will have Randy, John, Mark, Peter, Asa Jay, the Pope, and MD, enough for a team!
3. Spoke with Josette (POCA Membership Chairperson) today and she wanted to know if any of the TPR members were attending the 38th POCA Fun Rally in Reno. That's coming up soon, Wed. June 5th to Sun. 8th. Still possible but the Club early bird rate and special pricing at Circus Circus has ended.  I do recall seeing a Groupon travel discount for Circus Circus in Reno not too long ago, so if interested check it out. Rate would be very close if not same. Regretfully I have to miss this one as my terrific nephew, David, is graduating college in Santa Barbara with straight 4.0 the entire way and has been offered a full scholarship to MIT in his field of physics.  Just can not miss that!  If you are interested in the Fun Rally event, which is always an fabulously fun time, check out details on the POCA.com web site, or you can call Josette at 626-414-7135.
4. Always welcoming your news and reports from all around the Country.
5. We have the okay from Mike Haney (POCA Editor) to share my Profiles Magazine Sept. Silver State article for the TPR website; look for it soon.  Have to master the top secret code first so I can post it or track Asa Jay down!  Also more to come and pictures on the Antenucci May 3rd, Portland International Raceway coverage.
Remember the TPR motto:  If You're not on the Edge, You're Taking up Space...
(or what I say in school, If you're not saying the Pledge, it's truly a disgrace).
That's all for now folks, Laurie
p.s. *my grandpa played the violin for the score in that old movie.

Well all you slackers lucked out, with the rain and snow on the course. We ran but knocked everyone down to the 70 class. Just about to hit the awards banquet so maybe more to come. Owen.
