[TPR] Insurance experiences

Insurance lessons: My agreed value was through American Modern, the outfit
that was hooked up with Barrett Jackson. Absolutely recommended.

First question they ask: why were you driving the car. If you policy says no
cruising, no racing your buddy"s 911 then you want to answer something that
is ok by your policy. I was returning home after getting a paint match,
seems that was ok. It seems the chingadero was trying to weasel out of
paying!

The adjuster wanted to move the vehicle to one of their storage yards. I
had to explain why I didn't want that to happen (no storage yard within 250
mies).

American Modern did reimburse me for towing and storage.

How many of you just get insurance and drive your car? Remember what Tom
Waits said? The large print giveth, the small print taketh away. My policy
included $10,000 medical coverage. My accident resulted in a 4 mile
ambulance ride, some ER time, two images. $10,000 doesn't cover that!!!

Two list members guessed my cost for keeping the car: $20,000 and $10,000.
Not even close! American Modern indicated they would contact their auction
people to get an estimate of what American Modern could get from selling the
wreck (you have no idea how it hurts to type "the wreck"!!)

My settlement was as follows: agreed value minus buyback (5% of agreed
value) plus "inflation clause" of 4% of agreed value. I came out a little
short and have a few small medical bills to settle, but I still have the
car. Its for sale as is, email me off list for details.

Be safe, STAY AWAKE!
