I would say that stock nodular iron crank is good for 500 hp for sure.  I would use it.

Found 4MA on the crank today.  What is the significance?

Asa, please forward the CA lottery numbers to me privately. :)
At least it's spinning, so that is a good sign.  Since its a 2V intake and heads, are you thinking new heads and intake?  Probably doesn't have a 4MA crank, but maybe!  Have you settled on a build with Dan?

 Hi all,
Today, Sam and I attacked the 351C donor for the Mach I.  Yuck, is the
word for the day.  Thick sludgy and smelly oil.  A distributor that is
really stuck, a cam gear that refuses to come off, and a cam that won't
come out.  Small problems overall, but the engine turns.  My guess right
now is that this will need 0.030 over at minimum but we'll try for 0.010
if we can.  I've not measured anything yet.

We still need to get the pan off, rods/pistons out and remove the
crank.  Then we'll work on getting the cam and distributor out.

In several months, we need to compare these shots against the pretty
finished product.  :)
