Having been exposed to everything in schools for years... (including I'm guessing what might have been Ebola as it's the only thing that fits what i witnessed, once a kid was severely bleeding not only from his nose, but his ears and his from his eyes too, and the nurse had me wash and wash thoroughly with tincture of green soup and couldn't tell me what was wrong with him) but...at the first sign of a sore throat, that's how all my colds start... I gargle with Listerine 30 seconds, several times a day.. have to catch it at first sign...then take zinc 50 mg and vitamin c 1000 ... do that twice a day... and I've combatted it nearly every time. Recently I learned of Oregano oil... the special one with 70% carvacrol. Since you're home sick and have idle time..look it up. It's interesting and like a preventative or curative natural antibiotic that you ONLY take when you are sick or getting sick.
Any doctors or experts on board welcomed to comment.

I'm on meds now, yea baby!

The cough was just a small tickle, like you get with the onset of a head cold and you get nasal drainage down your throat. I've had head colds before that last a few days so initially I had no concerns. A little Tylenol, Sudafed, sleep and it should pass soon. When the cough got worse and moved into my lungs, it became doctor time.

Yes, I probably could have gone in a couple days sooner, but at that point I don't think I would have suspected, or given the doctor any reason to suspect anything more than a head cold. Maybe he'd have figured it out anyway.

Point being, most of us are at, or getting to an age where we need to suck it up and see the doctor, even if we think we don't need to.

Don't be a slacker slacker.....did you get antibiotics and steroids?
You should have. Why did you wait so long to go to doctor?

I have learned to live with pneumonia the last 3 out of 4 years.
The key for everyone reading this is to NOT wait until you are coughing so bad you can not sleep.
That is where you go to doctor and demand xrays to see if you have pneumonia. But get the flu and pneumonia shots yearly.
I just started doing that last year

Don't wait like slacker Asa or Dr. Dawg

Hi all,

I pray y'all had a great Christmas and were able to spend some quality

time with family and friends. Despite some of the bad things that

happen throughout the year, it's good to know we still have family and

friends to lean on when the going gets tough.

My plans for this final week of the year were to get out and do more

disassembly on the Mach I. Let me tell you that didn't go as planned.

After five days of fighting what seemed to be a slight head-cold, and

sapping all my energy (and I mean -all- my energy), I went to the doctor

yesterday and came away with a diagnosis of Pneumonia.

Nice!... not!

It explains the weakness and lack of energy. But it also tells me I'm

not going to be able to get out to work on the car for a few weeks,

especially if it continues to stay cold and miserable outside.

This is not fun, I wouldn't recommend it for anyone.

I just hope I can get back to my regular job next Tuesday.

Asa Jay
