[TPR] Flu Shots (Re: Project Mach I for 2018 has been stalled)

My Dad was an Air Force pilot for 20 years. The Air Force "required" that you receive the flu shot, whether you wanted it or not. For the first few years it was mandatory, he got the shot, and he got the flu. He would get the flu so bad that he ended up in the hospital each time.
About the third year of this happening, the Flight Surgeon finally admitted they couldn't figure out why, and put him on a permanent waiver. It was costing them more in lost pilot time to give him the shot, than simply risking "if" he might catch the flu on his own. And no, he's not allergic to eggs, which is the typical question they ask, and why(as I understand it) there are two versions of the vaccine these days.
I've had flu shots myself but not many. It seems to affect me adversely in different ways each time. I remember one time years and years ago, after having the flu shot, I had one symptom after another, each one lasting nearly a week; headaches one week, body aches next, sore throat next, etc.. I was "feeling poorly" for nearly two months, but not bad enough that I couldn't work.
I'm not a fan of flu shots myself.
