[TPR] End of SSCC?

Agree SORC and BBORR are good models.
But we ain't going to get the Board to open their books so forget that idea....remember none of the board race...not one. Steve was the last. Kelly stopped racing years ago.....so with the exception of Bunny the rest of the board members are all old trusted friends (investers) of Steve and Gail Waldman who show up at the banquet sometimes but suck from the hind titty the the rest of the year waiting for their check to arrive in the mail.
With Tom, Blue and Eric exploring what can be done and looking at as Dave suggested how city of Ely can help or as Steve suggested reducing fees for Rookies and eliminating the BS need for them to go to Vegas first.  Blue can give them the  check drive in Ely....Your not gonna get a 20 or 30-something kid to cough up a grand for all the expenses to do SS unless you make it easy for them to participate and RETURN unless they are working for Google.
I used to be able to write waiver letter recommendations for any Pantera drivers who had participated in at least one or more POCA or other club track events....I did this because so many Pantera guys told me they would NOT unless they could go faster then 125.....when Frank took over from Gary Patterson as the SSCC race director about 10 years ago he made allot of BS changes....and of course several guys with Panteras told me  if they couldn't run at least 140 mph they did not want to run and after that I couldn't help them on waivers. I know Vegas Vettes and other clubs did the same thing because I talked to them and their numbers started decreasing because of new fee increases and new rules.
Outreach to media and race organizers and more sponsors is what is needed.  I am sure Steve and Gail got board buy in $$$$ from the folks sitting on the board....not sure you can offset this unless the board members themselves will accept a smaller piece of the pie.

As was indicated to me this year by Eric, our tire tech dude... we should take a look at how SORC manages theirs.  They may have some new decent ideas to infuse the event.  It would be very interesting to see where all the money goes.  If it's like the POCA Fun Rally, where a lot of money goes to paying the rooms for the event organizers and board members, there could be a lot of cost reduction right there.   (But I have no indication that's what happens).

 Keep us informed Dennis,

The other consideration that Steve Irish Donegan brought up his how a silver state weekend even entering can cost well over $1000 for a rookie who has to come to Vegas for the track session and then go up to Ely afterwards.... The cost just tripled in 15 years and I know well how these nonprofit organization's work which is to say every expense a half including the one going to Hawaii or Europe is chargeback to the nonprofit
And that may be the bigger challenge for the board to do two events a year they're going to have to look at cutting their expenses-costs
That is probably unlikely or as likely as my man Donald Trump getting elected ha ha ha

Hopefully they will go thru 1 year with two races to get a read on things  first. I agree 1 race would work.

The back up plan as Irish (Steve Donegan) just suggested to me was SSCC does ONE ORR a year like SORC and BBORR events. That has allot of merit.
