[TPR] Asa's progress

Well I had a slow day today. After Church and some lunch I got dressed
for working on the car and dove in.

I removed the left-rear muffler after marking where I wanted the O2
sensor bung. I took it to my friends house where I drilled it to one
inch and he welded in the bung. Return home and re-install the muffler.

I had intended on running the wires through the driver's side rocker;
however, I discovered later there is no entry hole near the gas tank and
no apparent exit hole near the footwell, like there is on the passenger
side. <sigh> Had I known that ahead of time, I probably would have
installed the bung in the passenger side muffler pipe instead and then
run the wires through the same channel as all the other.

What were you saying yesterday Chuck? :)

So instead, I'm running the wires along the frame next to the driver's
side of the engine and through the same grommet as the speedometer
cable. This meant I had to remove the bulkhead cover and center
console. I figure that's not too big a deal since I'm expecting to
install an oil temp unit and will need to run the wires for that in
about the same place anyway. That and I need to check timing so the
engine cover will be coming off soon as well.

So now the sensor wiring is routed and I need to hook up a few wires.
I'm saving that for tomorrow after I pick up some appropriate size
wire. Then I have to figure out where to tap more power cleanly. I
hate using tap connectors into existing wires so I usually spend a lot
of time making sure I don't. Why don't car makers create an accessory
block of terminals? That would save me a lot of time and grief.

It might be a slow week, but Sam and I are planning on a car show next
weekend so I need to have it back together by then at least.
