It's late as the sun goes down near the NASCAR Hall of Fame here in  
Charlotte, NC.  I walk back from a campaign stop at City Smoke  
barbecue after having a good portion of Texas Rub ribs and I note the  
slender lines and smooth skin of the latest batch of automotive  
engineering whiz silently by as I tread the sidewalk back to my hotel.  
  Each one looking more like a thousand dollar a night hooker than a  
true soul mate.

There is, ...   barely any sound but tire noise.

I slip into a visceral daydream of pulling hard in second gear up the  
slight hill that is College St heading North-East; the explosive power  
of a 400 horse (or more) herd thundering between the buildings causing  
glass to waver and heads to turn; a low prowling panther of a machine  
making its way deftly along the painted white lines; a fair-skinned  
beauty that brings lust to your thoughts with a hint of menacing  
prowess that makes you want to succumb to her will. All the while, you  
recognize she has a soul and you want her more than anything else and  
you know by the way she looks at you, she wants you inside and  
controlling every subtle moment until you gain the satisfaction she  
believes you so richly deserve.

At a time like that, who could possibly think of politics?

I shall, in the next two days, make an announcement to the  
constituency which has steadfastly voiced their support.
