Well, Dart has 4 or so flavors - all in the 5k range. Twere it me I would go with the 9.2 deck, 4.125 bore, 302 crank journal size - cranks are more available in that size :-)
I haven't checked - but I would guess Dart also has matching aluminum heads - all the form factor of a 351C, torque, and less weight - gotta love it :-)

I expect this might be heresy - but why wouldn't you scrap the block and go with something like the DART 351C aluminum block?

it's wasted. You can see the lifter in the center of this picture is so far into the block it has uncovered the lifter oil hole! That is why we had low oil pressure on course at SSCC! The lifter bottom is damaged and won't come out, so the only hope of using this block is to remove the cam and then get the lifters out of the cam bore. I'm just going to pull the engine and drop it off at the builder and see what he can do.
